\nI am explaining, on behalf of my group, why we failed to finish it within the time allocated. Everyone has done their work, with the exception of Nicholas Ng, 2i4 18. \n
\nNo, I do not think it will be considered complete. Shakespear's work plays a major part in the world of literature, many present works of literature are somewhat derived from Shakespear's work. Also, in a course, they cannot miss out such great literature works.

\n3) Is it possible to appreciate Shakespeare\u2019s work and genius without knowledge about his background?

\nYes, I feel that it is possible. Shakespear's work are all very detailed and when being read, lets the reader visualize it perfectly and feel like he is there. \nWell, Shakespeare was one of the few script writers that actuallr represented the Elizabethen era. His plays depict characters who are witty and expressive. He was also one of the first script writers who masters the art of sub-plotting.
\n
\n2) In your opinion, could any literature course be considered complete if Shakespeare\u2019s works were not included in the syllabus?

\nAs a large portion of our culture and media now are shaped by Shakespeare's works, I feel that it is not possible for a literature course to be complete unless shakespeare's works are included.

\n This is because Shakespeare was one of the most revolutionary writers of his time, and his works appealed to all kinds of people, from the nobleman to the commoner. Whilst it is argued that he copied the works of many other playwrights, he also created many of his own phrases and ideas, as well as metaphors that are in use until today
\n
\n2) In your opinion, could any literature course be considered complete if Shakespeare\u2019s works were not included in the syllabus?
\n No. If one were to ask any person on the street for a great literary figure, the answer would almost definitely be Shakespeare, unless the person in question is exceptionally ignorant, or un-learned. Apart from that, Shakespeare's works are classics, and many lessons may be drawn from them
\n
\n3) Is it possible to appreciate Shakespeare\u2019s work and genius without knowledge about his background?
\n Yes. If you do not know his background, it is still possible to appreciate his literary genius, as well as his skill at writing. \nShakespeare is famous because his plays were very dramatic. he has written 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. he had also created a lot of new words for the English language. many people could relate to his plays as people from all the social classes would go and watch his plays.

\nShakespeare\u2019s writing was revolutionary at that time, as it brought many new techniques like the sub plot, the showing of internal thoughts, etc. He also coined some words and phrases that have survived to today.
\nSupposedly, he stole a lot of other playwright\u2019s ideas, yet he wrote stuff that both a common man and a noble could relate to.
\n
\n2) In your opinion, could any literature course be considered complete if Shakespeare\u2019s works were not included in the syllabus?

\nProbably not, for he plays are like classics and set the benchmark . Most of the contemporary plays are influenced one way or another by his writing.
\n
\n3) Is it possible to appreciate Shakespeare\u2019s work and genius without knowledge about his background?
\n
\nYes. It only makes you more appreciate it more, for example when you realize that the only education he received was from a grammar school(maybe around high school today) and he had illiterate parents.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"13025915","dateCreated":"1246323931","smartDate":"Jun 29, 2009","userCreated":{"username":"patricklyh","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/patricklyh","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/tmovonline.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/13025915"},"dateDigested":1532390292,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Error in quiz 1?","description":"Dear Miss Huang,

\nIncidentally, why is this line quotable in any essay that you might get in an exam? Literature essays test you on plot, character, setting and theme. At most, I can imagine someone using the line to show Shylock pining more for the loss of the ring which cost him 'two thousand ducats' than the loss of this daughter, Jessica. Why would it be necessary at all to cite 'Frankfurt'?

\nBecause of Shakespeare, the English language was changed completely. He has also been known to add more than 10,000 new words to the language, more than any other writer to date.
